Fridge Freezers

Fridge freezers have come as boon especially for the busy home maker. Food can be stored for a longer period without fear that it will get spoilt. The new freezers of today are extra safe because they have a special anti bacteria coating. There is no fear that germs or bacteria will attack the food inside the freezer. Depending on the number of members within the family one may choose a fridge with the required capacity.

There are the free standing freezers as well as the chest freezers. The chest freezers have a top opening feature but they can store a lot more than the standing ones. While some people prefer only freezers for their needs, others go in fridges which are a combination of both and the freezer may be smaller than the main cooling area. Some brands have an integrated fridge and freezer model which is of course most suitable for families.

A standard fridge freezer has some common features like auto defrosting, humidity controlled salad crispers’, bottle racks and a frost free option. The fridges with tall drawers and multiple drawers are most suitable for stuffing in more of the food items. The drawers are transparent and the food items can be easily identified when they are placed in these drawers. There are also compartment flaps provided. According to the users’ need the storage area can be adjusted to fit all sizes and proportions of the food containers or wrappings. There are glass shelves provided in some fridges. The interior lights makes it user friendly and one need not grope in the darkness for the food item that one wants, especially if it is a mid night snack that one is looking for!

Temperature can be adjusted with the help of the adjustable thermostat. There is also an option to freeze the food much faster by using the fast freeze button. The reversible door is an added feature in some fridges. The fridge freezers of today work so quietly that one does not realise that there is a fridge in the vicinity.

The power consumption of the fridge is also rated and it is best to buy the brand with an A rating for its energy efficiency. Similarly the G rating is for high power consumption and a fridge with a G rating should be avoided. Most modern fridges however are designed to be energy efficient and indeed todays’ fridges use about 25% less power than the older models.
