How can you tell when a home based opportunity is a scam? There are a number of steps you can take during your due diligence to lessen your chances of being ripped off. Don’t be put off by the expression due diligence it just means checking things out.
Now there are a number of danger signs you should be alert for. However even if all the following signs appear it does not necessarily mean the business you are looking at is a scam. You should realise that the likelihood is increased. But what are the signs?
Let’s just go with some common sense to start with. If the business is free and you don’t have to do any work then how is it going to generate any cash? The good thing if it is free is that you won’t lose any money, just time.
Now looking at a business that costs money to get involved do you understand how you are going to make money? Does the compensation plan appear to be paying out more than the company appear to be earning? If yes, then it is possible that the new comers will be funding the payments to existing members. This may well suggest it will not be around for long.
Next do you understand the sales transaction that makes the money to be paid out? That is can you see the sales transaction that creates value for future disbursement? Again if this is unclear tread carefully.
Other plans can look good on first viewing. However closer examination highlights your payout is greatly reduced if you and your team do not help qualify every month. Although qualifying may look easy, ask yourself why it is there if not to reduce the amount paid out. It could be argued that it is to motivate you. Break-away groups and various payout percentages for different volumes are other techniques used to reduce payouts. Read the details of the compensation plan until you know you understand them.
On the product front, do you understand what product is being sold? Is it the case there is no real product at all, just an excuse for the movement of money? Ask yourself would you buy the product if you weren’t working the business? If you wouldn’t buy the product why would anyone else?
I hope this gives you a quick starter on how to avoid the worst the web has to offer. That said there are hundreds and hundreds of good and honest programs out there.
I work one such business myself. Just to be clear the program I work requires capital to the tune of a couple of thousand dollars and requires work to make it pay. Anyone can see what is being sold, how you make money and the worth of the sales proposition. If you are interested I would be only too pleased for you to go and test it out.
