You may have read about passive income opportunities while surfing the Internet before. Are they real? At first glance, many of them appear to be scams, and indeed many of them are! If you’re interested in making an income online, it is important that you learn how to distinguish the frauds from the real deals.
There are a few types of passive income opportunities on the web:
1. Google Adsense
AdSense is one of the legitimate passive income opportunities on the Internet. You can sign up for AdSense at Google AdSense dot com. It encompasses placing Google ads on your site or blog. When someone clicks on the ads, you get paid.
2. MLM Programs
Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) programs can be legitimate or they can be scams. The scams are the pyramid schemes, where the incentives are given out based on how many people you refer, rather than how many products you sell. It is important to sign up with reputable companies when doing MLM.
3. ‘Type At Home’ Programs
Real legitimate type at home programs generally don’t exist. These programs are actually arrangements where you do writing for a business or a type Google AdWords ads for the business.
4. High-Yield Investment Programs
High-Yield Investment Programs (also known as Ponzi schemes) are one of the most well-known investment scams around. The owners often promise outrageous returns for little risk. However, they don’t give details about how the money is invested. In truth, the money is used to pay out previous ‘investors’ in the scheme to give the illusion they are making money. Eventually, the owners escape and the scheme collapses.
5. Paid To Read Emails
While these are not necessarily passive, I feel it’s necessary to include it here. Companies that pay you a few cents to read each email are companies to be avoided. Once you have reached their payment threshold, which often takes months or even years to do, these companies often don’t pay up. Avoid like the plague.
