Have you ever been called by someone and don’t know who they are? Yep, it happens to me all the time. Numbers appear on my cell and I have no clue who these people are. How did they get my number? Sometimes, it is really frustrating.
If you are like me, the first thing I did was to go to a search engine to find out more information. Many people use Google or Yahoo or MSN live, the three most popular search engines. Most of the time, I type the number in and get no additional information. The search comes back with xxx-xxx-xxxx did not match any documents. Well, that was certainly useful. My next stop on the hit list is to go to the online whitepages directory at whitepages.com. I type in the number and hope for the best. Here is where I usually get hit up for a fee because the information is not available to the public for free. Nice, great strategy for making money, but not so nice for normal people like you and me.
So how do we find the information that we are looking for? Fortunately, there are services that have this information. They are called reverse number lookup services. They are easy to use. You type in the number that you want information about and they look it up. Many times, the first number lookup is free, so that’s great. I signed up because I can look up an unlimited number of phone numbers cheaply. I did this when I was being harassed by some telemarketers.
